in Brief
The aim
MEMICS provides a forum for doctoral students interested in applications of
mathematical and engineering methods in computer science.
Besides a rich
technical programme (including invited talks, regular papers, and
presentations), MEMICS also offers friendly social activities and exciting
opportunities for meeting like-minded people.
Topics
The scope of MEMICS is broad and covers many fields of computer
science and engineering. In the year 2012, submissions are
especially encouraged in the following six areas:
- Computer-aided analysis and verification
- Applications of game theory in computer science
- Networks& Security
- Modern trends of graph theory in computer science
- Electronic systems design and testing
- Quantum information processing
For each of these topics, the MEMICS 2012 programme includes an
invited talk delivered by a leading expert.
Submissions are, however, invited also in other areas of computer science and
engineering. The main acceptance criterion is the quality and
attractiveness of the submitted papers.
Involvement
There are two types of submissions: regular papers and presentations.
All submissions should be (co-)authored by PhD students who are
expected to present the results at the workshops.
A regular paper is a previously unpublished piece of work with
original results, not exceeding 12 pages in the LNCS style.
Depending on their quality, accepted papers will appear either
in local procedings distributed at the conference, or in LNCS
post-proceedings. The decision will be taken by MEMICS 2012 PC during
the evaluation process. The authors will be informed about the decision
in the notification letter.
A presentation reflects a recent outstanding work that has been published
(or is accepted for publication) at a leading computer science
conference or in a recognized journal. Presentations to be
included in the programme will be selected on the basis of a one-page
abstract, which will also appear in the local proceedings.
The best regular papers, selected by MEMICS 2012 PC co-chairs during
the workshop, will be awarded (the award includes a certificate and
some amount of money).
