Mikulov
The workshop will be held in Mikulov. Mikulov (Czech
pronunciation: ['mikulof]; German: Nikolsburg) is a town in
the
South Moravian Region of
the
Czech
Republic with a population of 7,608. It is located directly on the
border with
Lower
Austria. Mikulov is located at the edge of a hilly area and a
large lake. It extends from a sea level of 200 to
250m.

Landscape Protected Area begins at Mikulov.
The town of Mikulov is characterized by its panorama of a
Baroque chateau, the Renaissance spire of the Church of St. Wenceslas
and the Holy Hill on the foothills of Pavlovské vrchy. It boasts a lot
of significant religious sights. Mikulov was famous for its religious
tolerance. From the 16th till the 19th century it housed the seat of
the rabbinate. The large Jewish ghetto, along with the Upper Synagogue
and the Jewish cemetery from the 15th century, are worth
mentioning.
Thanks to the location and climate, wine growing and trade
flourished here. Mikulov has become especially popular for its
viticulture. A network of biking trails crisscrosses the area, and
there are annual wine festivals every autumn.
Hotel Galant is the largest wine and conference hotel of the
Mikulov - the prestigious Moravian wine area. The guests of the hotel
have a unique opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of the
top vineyards.
How to get from Brno to Mikulov?
There will be a conference bus going from Brno (departing from the
Faculty of Informatics) directly to the hotel on the first day and
back on the last day of the workshop.
